Well, y’all keep subscribing, so maybe it’s time I get back to putting fingers to keyboard in here.
One thing I’ve realized doing The Marc Clair Show that I am constantly learning from my guests, particularly since I am selecting guests from outside the libertarian bubble that I had spent so much time in while hosting Lions of Liberty. So I’ve decided to start making some better use of this space and to begin sharing snippets of something I’ve learned from my guests each week.
This week’s guest is the great JimBob from the “Made by JimBob” YouTube channel. I also highly recommend checking out his cartoons and memes over at his Instagram.
During our discussion JimBob brought up the issues that arise from having a lack of standard, both for oneself and society. Ultimately when there is no standard, what tends to arise is a rejection of all standards because that is what garners the most attention. We can see this expressed in both at the societal level (I don’t really need to give you examples of grotesque, degenerate art by linking to a nasty music video, do I?) or at the individual level (the classic nose rings/purple hair/47 tattoos “rebel” costume.)
When JimBob broke this down it clicked for me and made sense in a way that I hadn’t really viewed it before. Check out this clip from The Marc Clair Show (and be sure to subscribe and leave a 5 star rating and great review, says the shameless self-promoter.)
Also, “The Watcher Speaks” seems to be an outdated title for this space, so I’m very open to suggestions on a new one.
