If I’ve been quiet here lately, it’s because I just spent 5 days between Puerto Vallarta and Sayulita, Mexico at the “Sayulita Superspreader” event put on by my friend Johnny Profita of the Peddling Fiction podcast. And I’ve spent the last few days since returning slowly pushing my way through various tasks and podcasts as a half-zombie as my body and mind slowly return to reality.
But this was a truly magical event, and was the first liberty-centric event I had attended since pre-scamdemic, when I had attended a Libertarian Party of Los Angeles event back in February of 2020. It was a great reminder of the value of networking and meeting people in person, something that can’t be replicated via podcast interviews and certainly not via tweets.
I got to reunite with some people I’ve had the pleasure to meet previously like Buck Johnson of Counterflow and James Guzman of Borderless, as well as people I had only previously “met” on podcasts such as the aforementioned Johnny Profita, Clint Russell of Liberty Lockdown, Antony Sammeroff of the Scottish Liberty podcast and the main event player himself, Robbie “The Fire” Bernstein of Part of the Problem and his own Run Your Mouth podcast.
To prove this occurred, here is the only picture on my phone from the entire weekend, with myself and Buck Johnson. And he’s the one that took it.
I actually had the pleasure of doing an opening standup comedy set to introduce Robbie, and it was the first time I had done standup comedy in over three years. It was exhilarating to not only get in there and get people laughing, but more so to just let loose and network with people I’d only previous known as Twitter avatars or Patreon subscribers.
As anyone who has met the Lions in person knows, we go hard at these events. The mimosas were flowing early and they evolved into beer, wine and more as the day progressed into the evening. By the time I was brought up to make a guest appearance on Run Your Mouth with Robbie, let’s just say I was in…some kind of state.
There is a story here….but you’ll have to subscribe to Lions of Liberty on Locals or Patreon to get it, as it’s just a little too juicy for the freeloading normies.
There are two lessons here:
First, get out to in person events and network with like-minded people in person as much as possible. You absolutely will not regret it.
Second - I am too old for this shit. I have the spirit of a 21 year old and the body of a 41 year old (a very healthy 41 year old, but a 41 year old nonetheless…).
But “too old” or not, expect to see myself and the Lions at many more in person events in 2022, and expect me to go hard anyway.
Check out all of my projects below:
Lions of Liberty, where I facilitate conversations with the hopes of inspiring others to achieve more liberty in their lives.
Second Print Comics podcast, where myself and Remso Martinez take a weekly look at the comic book characters, storylines and events that shaped our fandom.

The Expat Money Show - This isn’t my project, but I’m thrilled that I’ve gotten to work directly with my friend Mikkel Thorup to help grow this show over the past few months. I believe greatly in what Mikkel is doing - helping others to achieve greater liberty in their lives by exploring opportunities to live and invest abroad - and helping grow this program has been a true joy. I also get to help moderate The Expat Money Forum on Facebook - check it out!
