I’m not going to write anything here that probably won’t be said elsewhere about John McAfee. Whether you loved him, hated him, or just think of the Anti-Virus software when you hear the name McAfee, it’s hard to deny that he was a unique sort of individual.
John McAfee was the kind of person who would make a video about how to uninstall his own software while doing cocaine with a bevy of prostitutes. Was it real cocaine and real prostitutes? With McAfee, anything was possible.
He’s the kind of guy who would run for the Vice Presidency and Presidency of the Libertarian Party…at the same time. He’s the kind of guy who would fake a heart attack to get out of Guatamalan prison. Depending on who you believe, he might even be the kind of guy who would have his neighbor killed.
I had the pleasure of interviewing John McAfee on multiple occasions, as well as hosting him as part our last round of debates for positions within the Libertarian Party. Regardless of what you think about John McAfee the person, interviewing him was always a thrill and a pleasure. It would be damn near impossible to get through an interview with him without busting out laughing and feeling my jaw hit the floor multiple times.
John McAfee was certainly a “crazy one”….heck, maybe even crazy enough to fake his own death in a Spanish prison…?
Who knows….
Here’s a recent clip of McAfee’s last appearance during a Lions of Liberty LP Vice Presidential debate
Check out my most recent one-on-one interview with John McAfee from back in 2016.
I’ll leave the theorizing and memes about John McAfee’s death to others who will do it so much better than I. For now, I am just going to appreciate the fact that I got to speak with this man and got a personal feel for the “crazy” energy he brought to absolutely everything he did in life.
